ENGINE 600 ON A 400 FZR

Post by csofos »

Does anyone knows if i can put an fzr 600cc engine on a 400cc fzr frame? I know for sure that this can be done between 3HE (FZR 600) and 1WG (FZR 400). What i'm talking about is to take an engine from a 4JH (FZR 600 -fox eyes) and put it on a 3TJ (FZR 400 -smiley light). Can this be done? I've notice that both 600 & 400 (4JH & 3TJ) frames have side mountings to hold the engine's cylinder head. This is what make me wondering if it is possoble. (Ok, and the fact that i recently own a 3TJ)

The motor goes straight in however you have to have plates made up that mount the cylinder head to the frame. The 4JH motor is the better swap, it makes a little more power and the sprockets line up(or are pretty close).
fzr660/400: fzr400 3en1 frame, 3en2 swinger, custom single seat subframe, fzr660 motor conversion, APE adjustable cam gears, full D&D 4-2-1 exhaust, falicon clutch basket, ignitech ignition, R6 front end with tz250 wheel, ohlins shock, storz steering damper, tzr250 rear wheel.

weighs 166kg wet (25kg lighter than my stock fzr600).

But those plates i think it's something i don't need, because the 3TJ model has the plates on to the frame and holds his own engine. Just as the 4JH fzr600. But the distance (on 3TJ) between those plates (by width) will be enough to place the 4JH 600cc engine?

I was talking about the 3TJ with a 4JH motor. When you put the 4JH motor in a 3TJ the head mounts don't quite line up(I haven't actually seen this just heard about it) hence why you need plates made up. Your best bet would be to try the 400 grey bikes website, not too many people on here have 3TJs, let alone have done the swap.
