4JH forks onto a 3HE

Post by chris-seed »

Does anyone know whether a set of 1994-96 FZR forks will fit onto a 1989 3HE model? Whilst trying to put my 3HE back on the road after a collision last year I have found that the front forks are bent :-( . The later model forks seem more readily available on eBay than a set from 1989.

Thanks
Chris

The full assembly is bolt-on; I'm not sure about mix'n'match.

You will need to swap over the triple clamps (yokes). Front spindle is the same diameter, but you may need to pay attention to wheel spacers if you run the 3HE wheel. Another option would be to swap from a ThunderCat. Same triple clamps, and better forks. T-Cat has larger spindle, so you will need to address that. I just used a T-Cat wheel.
FZR400 (1WG): Purchased a perfectly good FZR400 with Yoshimura slip-on/EXUP, Yosh jet kit, Factory ignition advance, Racetech springs and emulators. It even had great bodywork. Like some diseased maniac I had to mess with everything good about that bike. Well, at least I have better brakes now.

FZR400RR (3TJ):Yeah, it's pink.
