So, my clutch was slipping in 3,4,5 gear so, I installed a new clutch since I just bought the bike. I've put it all back together but now my clutch won't engage.
I haven't done one in years but I don't feel like I'm doing anything different. I heard a noise while tightening up one of the springs but it still snugs up to 4-5 ft lbs. If I did snap the thread inside would this be the result ?
thanks

Did you put all the steels facing the same direction,
have you adjusted the cable properly ie in the right order,
have you checked that the tiny ball bearing did not fall out whilst you played with the clutch
Have you adjusted the clutch set screw

You have not pushed down the clutch pedal. You would find the master cylinder in dead mode. I was thought that You will change the master cylinder and slave cylinder. It would be good for your bike.
Re: clutch isn't working
The biggest cause of malfunctioning Yamaha clutches (after rebuild) that I've seen is the alignment of the pressure plate - it goes on 4-6 ways, depending on the model, but only ONE is correct. There are match marks on the plate and hub that must line up (a dot and triangle). If they aren't aligned, the clutch doesn't bite.

This is a 600 which has a cable actuated clutch!
if as you say the lever was dead on a hydraulic system I would look to bleeding the system of air not scrap the system!
Re: clutch isn't working
alright so it turns out I didn't line up the pressure plate correctly as described above and inturn I broke the pressure plate luckily, the piece the spring puts pressure on broke clean off and nothing was floating around in the oil.. looks like a cheap fix too since the pressure plate is only $20 off bike bandit..
Thanks guys..
