Depends on how wide the swingarm is at the pivot. The stock FZR is around 220mm (8-11/16"). You will need to take material from either the swingarm, or frame, or both.
Yes, that is a Single Sided Swingarm FZR600 that I built.

ABS,
just freshen my memory but the swing arm bearing pockets need machining off and made deeper don't they ?

Abs ,
Thanks for that :- so the bearing pockets get deepened by 0.375 inches (3/8 ") BUT that is not just removing 0.375 off the end of each swing arm bolt swing arm tunnel is it I seem to remember that the distance removed from the left (when on bike ) is more than the right to align the wheel / sprocket up with the FZR engine )

Sorry to be a pain but I want to a bullet point how to that compares solutions in order to quantify the ease or difficulty.

In my book this is probably the most difficult swap to do except for the single side swing arm swap, as it requires some "engineering input.

Yeh I know your pal did it with a dremel but even though I can port 2 strokes to match to within 1/100 of a CC and air flow them within 0.1 by eye, it would be to me very stressfull worrying about the exactness of the bearing mating surface.

I would go bribe a machinist some place to mill / ream those bearing holes just to get away from the stress
