George, If you want to use the 3en hanger you're going to have to get a fzr400 wheel as it uses a 210mm disc opposed to a 240mm. A 400 caliper needs to be used with a 400 wheel (The 400 1wg and 3en use the same rear calipers) or do what I did and have a small amount of material removed form the bottom of the caliper.

Dru,
Do you have pics of the 3en2 swing arm to show us the differences?

Yup I ran straight into that GOTCHA yesterday with the £en/1WG caliper not clearing the disc :duh: :swear

However Look as you did on caliper metal removal looked to be a problem of hitting the two bolts that hold the caliper LH & RH halves together.

The alternate would be removing 15mm from outer diameter but that may mean you end up hitting rim holding bolts

OR a combination of the two some on the caliper and a little off the disc.

IS the 400 disc a different mounting pattern on to the wheel do you Know ?

The 3en2 swingarm is also what is referred in the states to the 90 fzr400 although it really was first used in 89 on the 3en2. there's some pics of it herefzr400 models

The 400 disc is a 3 bolt, where as the 600 is a 6 bolt, the 400 also has a smaller PCD than the 600 . In other words they're not interchangeable. For you to be able to use the 3en1 hanger you'd need to get a fzr400 wheel. My issue was that the caliper was rubbing on the center of the wheel.
fzr660/400: fzr400 3en1 frame, 3en2 swinger, custom single seat subframe, fzr660 motor conversion, APE adjustable cam gears, full D&D 4-2-1 exhaust, falicon clutch basket, ignitech ignition, R6 front end with tz250 wheel, ohlins shock, storz steering damper, tzr250 rear wheel.

weighs 166kg wet (25kg lighter than my stock fzr600).

Dru,
Sorry to be a pedantic PIA but those pics are not clear enough to show how that swing arm is constructed.

It looks very similar to a 3TJ I have which is largly an alloy casting with the chain tensioners extrusions welded in place. The wheel axle is a different diam and so is the pivot bolt at the frame being 20mm instead of 15 (I am away from my den doing this so I do not have my notes handy so this is all my old brain chuntering away on figures)

Thank you for clearing up the wheel & disc mis-match between the original 600 and the 3en small disk & different fixings.

I f I can get a 3en disc I can probably make an adapter plate as I strive to keep the core build of the bike stock canofworms

That's to easy of a swap. I vote for more chopping and sawing of the swingarm and or frame!

That is a good looking swinger though.Very nice job.
