throttle cable question

just wondering, and i did search, why is there two throttle cables?
1994 fzr 600, 9300 miles, d and d slip on.

This is a safety feature that many bikes have. If the throttle return spring breaks on the carb, you can still shut the throttle with the two cable system. Some people get cheap or lazy or both and just run one cable to pull the throttle open.

Yep beat me to it. I was going to say 1 push, 1 pull.
Makes more since to my engineering head to have 2.

Ok, thanks, the second one is not hooked up from when I bought it , but I will be sure to hook it up

The cable that goes on bottom is a pain to get into the guide. I have more luck getting it in first and then twist the throttle to get the other one in place and then putting it into the guide.

yeah it look kinda hard to hook up but it might be easier with the tank off

+1 you can spin the throttle,on the carb body, with your hand and hook the cable end (I officially call it the cable barrel) into the back side of the throttle on the carb and then let it loose to get the other one. Then attach it all to the guide.
