New muffler...

Post by bucket »

I was thinking about picking up a used 07 R6 muffler, for my FZR. The guy I bought the bike off of told me if I do anything to the bike ie muffler, pods, ect I would have to have the carbs tuned is this true? I might gut the muffler also. thanks all

Generally, if you just fit a slip-on mufler you don't have to re-jet, generally. But If you put on pods, or a full exhaust system or pods and a full exhaust system you will have to re-jet for sure.

you should grab a haynes or clymer FZR manual - it will walk you through it step by step

or someone can possibly link you to one

This is what I have been using during my carb tune. It's written by the guys over at Factory Pro.

I didn't think you could just schlap a new R6 muffler on an existing FZR header, thought the pipe diameters are different. You might have to get some mid-piece tube fabricated. See TK's thread on R6 header modification.

You will have to make your own mid pipe for it or have one fabbed up.
