Just curious as to how long it takes everyone else's line and pump to run out of fuel after you shut off the petcock.
I winterized my bike and when I was done letting it warm up the other day I shut off the pc and let it run another 5 mins or so. It never died. Did I just not wait long enough?
Chris.

I kind of figured that. Since I get about 46 mpg out of it, I thought maybe I didn't let it go long enough. But I double checked to make sure I didn't go to reserve. Thanks George.

Re: Fuel shut off.
i have always been told you never want to run it dry... on all 8 of my bikes ranging from choppers, to metrics and harleys, i have just started them for about 10 min every 2 weeks and they are good, without any gas in the carbs the gaskets and seals, and o rings will dry up and get brittle and crack... you will have to rebuild the carbs, little bit of stabil and start it every now and then and your good bud

Re: Fuel shut off.
I put stabil in there, and then looked at the wiki for ways to winterize the bike. The process that I am doing is what I came across. I kind of thought the same thing about the orings and what not. But then again I am thinking about taking the carbs apart and cleaning them anyway. Maybe this will just motivate me. I also hit a snag when I let it sit a week the battery drained to 8.5v. So now I have the batt unhooked until I get a battery tender.
