Colours are going to be the original. No changes at all. Owners request! But.... if you watch closely the starting photos i've upload at the beggining of this thread, you 'll see that the colour it's mot the oroginal mama Kawas'. This bike is repainted. In similar, but not original colours. We found the oroginal colours on Sikkens part list and so we 'll do the job with them.

Hi,
in the interest of safety I will pass on what a Japanese Yamaha inspector told me.

We had taken delivery of a fleet of 24 white Yamaha police bikes which had to be painted the local cop blue & have the required decals added.

I was in the middle of painting bike number 18 when the Yamaha rep turned up. He stopped me and told me that the wheels must not be painted in the area where the sprocket & discs mate to the wheel, that disc center must not be painted either, and the cush drive area must be bare metal on the wheel & the carrier.

Unfortunately my Japanese is limited to being polite not technical and his English did not stretch that far either
but as far as I could make out with tools & gestures + a fractured conversation.the problem is that the painted surfaces do not allow the right torques to be made. In the case of the cush drive the cushions can be damaged by the paint (flakes / solvent & something to do with the bearing in the carrier.)

It kinda makes sense so I re-did all the wheels & sprocket carriers as I did not fancy breaking our Yamaha factory backed warranty.

It makes sence, and i 'll certainly remove the paint before put the wheels on. Thanks George for telling me that
