I would suspect that it will make the back end of the bike sit really high up with the stock fzr dogbones. That's what happened to my old 600 when I experimented with a shock from a 2003 Gixxer 750 (which is almost the same length as the yzf shock). You can get it in there and then set your ride height better with a custom length set of dog bones. I've actually heard of only one person going with a YZF shock in an fzr frame and he did end up making a new upper mount but that could be a totally unique situation. Only one way to really find out and since you have the shock what could it hurt?
I went out and measured some stuff this morning before I left the house. Top and bottom mount are the same width, YZF shock is 14 1/2 inches, and FZR shock is 11 1/2 inches. I just ran outside with a flashlight to check the angles you were talking about..its the longer shock that makes the L bracket pivot and that gives it the angle. It looks like i might be able to take off the L bracket that the dog bones connect to, grind down the sides and mount it to my bike. The top mount for the rear shock is in the same place on the two bikes, and the lower mount where the L bracket meets the frame is in the same place, so theoretically if I take the L bracket and grind it down, and take the whole assembly, L bracket, shock, and dogbones, then I should be able to mount everything to the same height as the YZF. The rear shock has nitrogen gas, and there looks like there is an adjuster screw with 1 - 6 settings, I would imagine this is just a rebound adjuster, someone tell me if they know it to be something else. I tried to take the pictures below at the same angle from the same distance so you guys can see the difference between the two bikes. The first picture is the FZR, second is the YZF. Notice the huge difference in the bottom L shaped brackets. I don't really see how it won't work if I grind the YZF L bracket down to the same diameter of the FZR one and put it on my bike.
