truck bed liner fairings :)

Post by match417 »

SOOOO..what do you do if you live in Hawaii, you've parted out 3 FZR's and have extra fairings lying around that are too large to ship out of state? You experiment with interesting ideas like painting the side and tail fairings with truck bed liner. I love the textured look they now have. Plus it makes the plastic more durable. I took masking tape to a few areas that I plan on making glossy black. So the gloss and truck bed liner combo should yield an interesting finish. I thought about pinstriping yellow between the glossy black and bed liner black since the rest of the bike is a black with yellow accessories, I might experiment with that later on. Since these side fairings look as great as they do I'm going to do the R6 tail with the bed liner also and leave the front fairing glossy black. The top of the side fairings will be glossy to match the front fairing. The R6 tank will also stay glossy black. Seems like the makings of an interesting paint job!

I like it, that's a neat idea. Easy to fix if you can manage to scratch it as well ;-)

I did that as well when I binned my bike, easy and cheeeaap! I rode around and then had the bright idea to clear coat the truck bed liner. :drink: found that if you go over it with a clear coat, the whole thing looks like shit lol

it did, but i usually do with my mis-matched plastics: red, white and black fairings from assorted bikes and a blue windshield haha
but now its gone, only good paint from now on, scouts honor lol
