Finally almost done with my bike and is just about ready to goon the road.....i have made several post in the past with my few issues with the bike but i have it running great and final step is to get it painted this week. I was goin to go with red but my favorite color is midnight blue or like a budlight blue so keepin yamaha colors im goin with the budlight blue. I am also repowder coating the swing arm white so it matches the frame.
Here are some before pics of how the bike sits right now with wheels exhaust and lowered 1"
Yeah the i wanna be able to be seen by other people rather than be hidden in the night and not be seen. But also tryin to go with a different look that not to many people go with. As for the high mount i traded a guy localy for some seats i had for his brand new honda 650 exhaust. I had to fabricate it a little to make it work but it wasnt that bad. The swing arm was originally black and im getting powdercoated white to match the frame.
Weather has been holding us up here with all the rain but the fairings should be done by tomorow and the swingarm should be done by thursday.
I also took the liberty in repainting the header, side covers, calipers silver or like a aluminum cover and the headlight bracket along with the vent tubes and gas tank mount and cap were painted white to give it a different look to offset with the blue. While the wheels are off the bike i pinstripped the wheels blue too with pin stripping tape. I'll post pics tomorow of the latest work
Yeah, but what bike is that swingarm from? It's not an FZR that much I know. The rear wheel looks like a Honda F2/F3. (F2 if it's 4.5" wide, and F3 if it's 5.0")
Lots of questions here.. Looks like a cbr rear wheels and swnger. A Modking air tech tail. And new to the site! Good stuff! Give us some details GTstang
And here we go .........in the picture is a stock fzr600 swing arm looks different because ther is a rear tire coover fairing that I took off and threw away. The wheel is off a f2 wheel 4.5" x 17" and has a 160 tire on it...its a tight fit but you have just enough room on either side. As for what I did to make it work is I inherited the wheel and caliper bracket and purchased the axle that fits the wheel. I had a machine shop open the stock fzr sliders to fit the new axel cause it was to small. After that I just took a dremel and took not even 1\8 off the bottom part of the opening for the swingarm wher the axel goes through and that's it. Took $40 total for the conversion and 10mn to do. The exhaust was origanaly for a honda 650 but I fabricated the exhaust to fit my bike cause I love the high mounts.
Just to clarify this is a stock fzr 600 swingarm......several post think its not but sorry fellas it is.
I forgot to mention while the bike is somewhat apart I went ahead and painted all the side cover the header silver to look like regular aluminum and paited the gas cap vent tubes and headlight bracket white

GT,
Have you any idea what rear tyre hugger it was ? A lot of guys tried all sorts to get "that look" .
I think alot of our readers will be suprised at how cheaply you did this mod to achieve a nice result..
The "alloy" finish paint what colour was it as we found the peugeot aluminium paint to be VERY close in colour match to the original.
I have my fingers crossed but with the bad weather we've been having in FL. its rained on and off every day. We had a nice weekend so hopefully i'll be picking up my swing arm today and Tomorrow i'll be picking up the fairings...........Got my fingers crossed keep you guys updated
Finally the weather has givin us a few days to finish up. I just got some of the pieces back from powder coating and installed the swing arm to see how it looks like with the pin striped wheel. Today we primered the fairings and tomorow we'r spraying the fairings. Heres what the swingarm looks like now which looks a whole lot better now that its the same color as the rest of the frame
alright guys almost done with the bike finally.......Just got done painting the fairing and rear brake caliiper mount...posted a few pics of the paint job. didnt include the sanding and primer cause we all know how that looks. Heres the final coat and clear drying up
