Hydraulic anti-dive system

Post by olie05 »

I've seen some interest on this site for anti-dive front ends, but I've never seen a hydraulic version, so I thought i'd post it here.

Apparently in 1984 suzuki was using a hydraulic anti-dive system on the 1978 GP bikes. This was also used on later customer bikes.
The new frame was so stiff that the nose dived too much on braking to preven this Suzuki develloped a hydraulic anti-dive system. When the driver would brake the brake fluid would not only activate the brake pads but it would also activate a device in the front fork that prevented to bike from diving. The anti-dive did change the handling of the bike but not how the drivers liked it, Hartog didn't like it at all and once he took the internal parts out of the system so it didn't work but for the eye it was still on the bike not to upset the Japanese.

Yeah, each of the japanese companies had their own versions.

Notice you don't see them around anymore?

'cause they sucked.
