FZR Front ends.

Post by rustys »

Hi guys,
I have a 1989 FZR 600 Genesis 3HE1, which i race, but I'am haveing front end and tyre choice , issues.
First of all i was wondering if i got a 1985 FZR 750 front end would this go on ok?, as it would give me a better set up ie, twin pot caliper brakes which would be far better than the single pots, the bars sit under the top yolk on the 750 so better body position i guess, and also a better tyre choice front and rear.
As with the tyres, would the 1985 FZR 750 rear wheel go on the back ?, again giving far better tyre choices that i have now as its a wider rim .
Just trying to get a better set up than the stock bike, i also race with a guy who's built a 40/60, 600 engine in a 400 frame and it goes very well, but i did'nt want to go down that road.
Cheers Russ

Do you race it in that series that limits what you can do to the bike? I forget the name of it. Anyway, you can swap to 90+ 3he forks as they look exactly the same only they have 4 pot calipers. Same with rear-swap in a 90+ rear swinger and you can fit a 150 tire (tyre). The reason I'm suggesting this is it's all bolt on. I think, however, the 85 750 uses the same steering stem as the 600 so that my be bolt on as well. Not for sure though.

Hi Duane,
That sounds promising, thats what i'am after better brakes and also the larger size tyres for more tyre choices. The 1985 FZR 600 front end and wheels is what i'am wanting to change to, and i am looking at buying a 85 750 for parts.
The class i race in is "Post Classic pre 1989' Junior which are 600cc or less, i can make any changes to the bike as long as its pre 89.
Cheers Russell.
