My FZR Sunday Morning Ride

Some of my riding buddies and I made it out recently for an early morning breakfast ride. The weather was warm and the roads were clean and the riders were skilled.

We had about 8 riders. We had in our group a Ducati Streetfighter, Suzuki DRZ-SM, KTM 950 Supermoto, Triumph Triple(?), Honda CBR1000, Honda F2 (the fastest rider), Honda RC51 and some other bikes. I was on the FZR400.

We had a great time kicking off the start of spring in California.

Miguel,
nice ride, some classic scenery but part of that road looks to be in bad shape with some serious bumps & holes ?

Yes,the roads are not in the best shape. Actually, considering this road is pretty far away from the city it was well maintained. Believe me that there are some roads out here that make this road look first class.

Thanks for the comments!

Hello,

Sorry for the delayed reply. I have been pretty busy with kids and family and... work!

Yes, it is possible to maintain stock geometry. But I did tweak its stance slightly. I also installed a set of aftermarket "dogbones" to bring it up about an inch in the rear. The rear wheel is a Performance Machine wheel, 17x6 with a 160 rear tire. That is about as wide a a stock swingarm will take unless you plan to do alterations with the rear brake brace and drive chain alignment. In my opinion, the bike does not need much wider then stock. But I am using the whole 160 rear and most of the 120 up front. (2009 YZF-R6 front end)

As for wanting your bike to look like mine. It really isn't to difficult. Feel free to PM me for pricing and kit information.

That seems like a narrow tire for such a wide wheel considering most bikes that come with a 180-series rear do so with a 5.5" rim. Have you had any issues with flattening the tire profile to stretch it to fit a rim that wide?

You are correct. It is a 5.5 x17 rim.
