Signal Flasher Replacement
So I'm pretty sure my flasher is bad and would like to replace it with a load independent flasher. Only problem is that there are five wires associated with the stock flasher and most aftermarket flashers have only two prongs. I already looked at the wiring diagram and used the search but there isn't really anything about changing the flasher. I know people have done it, but I can't quite figure it out. What have you guys done?

Re: Signal Flasher Replacement
The problem is the "flasher relay" also controls the self-cancelling function, keeping track of how long the blinkers have been on and how far you've travelled. I *think* you could get away with just the Br and Br/Wh wires for a 2-wire rig, but you'd have to modify / change the connector.

Re: Signal Flasher Replacement
I can live without the self cancellation. I rode the bike around for a couple months before I even realized that the blinkers cancelled themselves! So which one is the load and which is the ground?

Re: Signal Flasher Replacement
Brown goes to the relay, Brown/White goes from the relay to the switch to the bulbs to ground.
Go to Corsa-Technic.com , get their D6AP plug - http://www.corsa-technic.com/item.php?i ... gory_id=57. That will plug directly into your harness in place of the Yamaha relay; from there, just connect a typical Wal-Mart / Canadian Tire automotive relay socket.
Or you could buy a replacement for $14 off this guy - http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/80s-00s- ... 0510916472
