my fzr died last night (electical)

Post by mattr »

hey Im new here, had my 89 1000 for about 6 years, awesome bike. So last night I wanted to fire the bike up to get it ready for summer but the battery was dead. I jumped the bike from a car battery (was told this was ok as long as the car wasn't running) hooked up the cabled turned the key on and it was making a really fast clicking noise, it clicked for about 5 seconds till i hit the start button and then everything died, no power anywhere. I checked the main fuse and the other 4 as well and they are all fine. Is there something I'm missing? hope I didin't fry anything.

The clicking you heard was probably the fuel pump priming. Do you have a multi meter? Put the positive and the negative on the battery without the bike running or the key on and see how many volts you have. Your battery might be fried.
