rear wheel play

Post by FZR AL »

Ok guys need some help , there is some play on the rear wheel of my fzr600 3he 89-90 model (twin round headlight) there is 3-4mm play in the rear wheel, is this acceptable or is it time for new bearings,or is it cush drive rubbers,
I have tried to look in the manual for the sizes of the bearings but i can not find anything on the sizes, also do they still do the 2 rubber seal covers ?

cheers al

time for new bearings

i just had to replace my rear bearings. very alarming once i got the wheel off
the bearing was in very very bad shape
but i paid $82 for bearings and getting them pressed in total
better than the $225 yamaha quoted me

DB,
I assume that 82 bucks is for all 3 bearings associated with the rear wheel ?

yes. there is a local bearing shop in town that sold me the bearings for $12
and the one local bike shop that is open monday charged $70 for 1 hour labor
my outer right (iirc) was torn apart and they had to weld a bolt inside the outer ring to get it out
