Hello again,
I posted my bike earlier this week and appreciate the chance to post on your site. I do hate to sell the bike, and it seems I forgot the first rule of selling something, set the price at what you would want to pay if you were buying it, not what you would like to get as the seller! So, I dropped the price to $1500 to allow for the miles and rough economy. Hopefully this is a sweeter deal and someone will feel like they are getting a bargain on the bike. Again, the bike is ready to ride and need nothing immediately but a new owner. Thanks!
I'm selling my 1988 FZR-400 and thought someone here might be interested. I've had it a couple years and its been the most fun to ride of any bike I've owned.
Too many close calls in the canyons and need of funds leads me to sell it, and it would be great to pass it on to someone who can appreciate it.
I'm asking $2000. and believe its well worth that much.
The bike doesn't seem to have ever been raced, ie, no drilled bolts, kickstand in place, nothing cut on the frame, ect. It does have a bunch of miles for a sport bike, 45k and change since I ride it often.
Mechanically, its in great shape for the age. It starts right up every time, even after sitting a month or two, does smoke a few seconds on a cold start after sitting a few days, but no smoke after that, no oil usage, no leaks, runs cool and super reliable. I rebuilt the carbs and got the 4k flat spot completely gone, runs super smooth and screams with the Kerker 4-1 pipe.
In the last 2k mi. it has had new plugs, K&N filter recharged, factory air box properly installed by me, took a heat gun and much patience, as you probably know.
Also new clutch and spring kit, front BattleAx tire, fork seals and oil. It has progressive springs up front.
Needs nothing mechanically except the temp gauge sometimes sticks till you tap it. Never runs hot, transmission is tight in all gears, all around solid bike in the 2-3k miles I've ridden it. Nothing rusty or corroded like it has set outside for long. Does have some normal wear, but nothing major at all. Doesn't look to have been dumped hard, front forks are straight, no dents or road rash on the frame, nothing bent up, ect.
The plastic has been epoxied in spots and its certainly been down before, but not by me gratefully, and nothing major for the 22 year age. I have a nice set of lower factory fairings included with the bike, just never got around to painting and installing them. Also a windshield that would fit with mods, can't seem to find the correct one. A few spare parts go with the bike as well. The bike is in N.E. Colorado, 1 hr north of Denver.

Thanks for your site and let me know if you have any questions, John
