New member UK - FZR 400 3en1
Hi all,
Bought my FZR 400 3en1at the end of last year with an intention to run her on the track this year. I'll be doing a more in depth restoration next winter.
She's a little bit beaten up but I've made some good progress since the following pics.
Done so far:
Rear subframe removed and restored
New Chain / sprockets
Air filter
Spark plugs
Oil and filter
Fuel delivery system restored
New Dunlop Alpha-10
Modified Clip-ons
Stainless brake lines
The majority of accessible bolts undone, cleaned, copper greased and replaced with stainless where possible
Cooling system dismantled, checked and refilld with 60/40 ethylene glycol coolant (I have a fan question in technical thread)
Forks rebuilt New seals and fresh 15 weight oil
To do:
R6 Rear shock conversion
Fairings
Front wiring loom to sort and fit clocks.
Engine seems fine. *Possible* head gasket issue and carbs need a clean / tune (might as well do a valve clearance then)
Clean it
Ride it
Fix whatever I buggered up above
Yes, there will be questions

Welcome aboard. Looks like a "good runner". 600 motor in the frame?

Cheers Sweekster.
600 engine - What makes you think that? I'm interested because I'm pretty sure it's a 400 engine but if you asked me to swear on it...

The stator/generator cover looks like a 600 cover. A 400 one is vented if I remember correct. A 600 motor will fit in the 400 frame. It's a coveted swap.

Welcome to the site!
Looks like the frame is in good shape. The cc's should be stamped on the engine block. I'm certain someone may have used a 600 stator. I doubt there is an internal difference.

Hi Darrin - Cheers for that. Had a look last night and no sign of CC's written on the blockragedigital wrote:Welcome to the site!

You should be able to find '1WG' or '3HE' somewhere on the block or cases.

well it is nice to have another Brit on the list, although at the moment I am not in the UK but welcome.
If that is a 600 engine it will have 3he on the engine id stamping or it could have 1wg , 3en or 3tj or the rare 2tk 400 in the UK.
Will the bike be ready for the Peterboro' BMF show as the brit guys were thinking of going there to see the faces to the name kind of thing there is another meet in Nottingham shire in June?

Hi George - Thanks for your welcome.
I managed to have a glance over the cases and there is 1WG stamped on the block. To be fair I have seen this before(!) and so for all this chat about 400 / 600 engines I should have clicked that I already knew the answer without realising it
Probably not going to make that show unfortunately
