So I took my bike out for a ride yesterday, felt some SERIOUS clutch fade that got worse as I went on. Eventually the clutch pulled like butter and never disengaged, quite a pain in the ass at stop lights.
I managed to get my bike back in storage and I picked up some DOT3 today and followed the instructions in my Haynes manual to the letter. My clutch works fine now, I shifted through all the gears with the bike off no problem. So I go to give it a try shifting with the bike running on stands. Starts up in N fine, I pull the clutch in and BAM, the bastard shutfs off as I shift into first. Well, that's odd. I push the start button and nothing happens, all lights off but the oil light, almost as if I were in first without the clutch in. So I put it back in N, starts with and without the clutch engaged, like normal. But anytime I shift to another gear the bike shuts off and wont do anything. Are there any connections I should check for a short from some spilt DOT3 (I only spilt a bit, and arent the clutch wires engage to start, not disengage?)? or is there any other explanation for this? It was running fine yesterday apart from the clutch, but now I have a bastard wiring issue Im assuming.
I hope to get to the bottom of this soon.

Was it the swich?? If so ,I would recomend you to fix it asap. You don't want to ride your bike with the sidestand down. Don't ask why.....

Re: Engine dies shifting out of neutral
It was the switch, the side stand was up, but the switch was faulty.
Ill replace it ASAP, dont want a highside
