i was under the assumption that these had automatic tensioners , i've never had to do any real engine work to mine so i can't say for sure . i've had other bikes tho where to adjust the cam chan you loosen the bolt on the tensioner , it tensions , and then you tighten it back up . maybe someone who's done it will chime in .

well, i haven't gotten to the chain yet, i probably will on friday or sometime during the weekend. i think i'll have to take mine completely off though, so i don't know how much help i'll be, but dr rockso's method sounds about right.

if you figure it out, try to take some pictures, might be good for a how-to section, damn giving ideas away for the how-to competition :duh:

i found this

Reset the chain tensioner, to do this take the bolt out of the back completely, remember there is still spring pressure on it, don't want to lose parts press on the little metal piece on the front of the tensioner and the tensioner should now be able to be pushed back up, if the gasket tore up on this you will want to get a new one, and install the tensioner now, the tensioner is marked with an "UP" install that side facing up, torque down the Allen bolts to 10 Nm or 7.2 foot LBS, next install the cap bolt you will have to compress the spring to do this, and you will also hear the tensioner ratchet out, toque that down to 20 Nm or 10 Foot LBS.

but the fact that this is the ratcheting type leads me to believe that unless you had it apart for a top end job then you don't need to mess with it because it's fully automatic , as the chain gets slack the spring tightens on it and the ratchet won't allow it to back off . hope that helps .
