Forks

Post by Yamster »

The 3HE forks,will they fit on a 400?
I am sure i read that they are a straight swop, but that the spacers and some other things are slightly different.
If anyone could enlighten me i would be most grateful.
A lad has just asked me,and i dont want to sell anything that cannot be used.
Thanks in advance.

I believe they can be BUT that said you have to know which 400 england has at least 3 models of 400, 1WG, 3TJ, 2TK and damned if I know which one does what.

Suggest you get yer pal to measure his old fork diam & check if your 3HE matches

I think the 3HE (FZR600) forks are direct bolt on for the 1WG (FZR400). But better to take a measurement first. What I do know is that the fork diameters are the same between these models. The 3TJ uses the same fork diameter as the 99-02 R6. The hearsay is that you can put the R6 forks into 3TJ yokes too. But don't quote me on any of this.
Yes, that is a Single Sided Swingarm FZR600 that I built.

So don't sue me because I just quoted you on this stuff...

I kid I kid...I think you may be right though (my memory is crap these days). Nate can probably confirm it.

The forks are indeed directly swappable between the 3HE 600 and 1WG 400 as far as stanchion diameter, stem length, etc. goes. For a 2-pot swap, I THINK the '89 3HE 600 are bolt to the '88 - '89 1WG 400 (without having to swap rotors). However, for a 4-pot swap, I THINK the '90+ 3HE 600 fork lowers have a slightly different caliper boss offset than the '90 1WG 400 lowers (since I have both, I REALLY need to confirm this!). In that case you would need to swap the rotors also (maybe calipers also?). It's a little fuzzy - hence the double "I THINK"! LOL! But those are the issues you need to be careful of.

Sorry I don't have anything more concrete. :whistle
