Hi fellow fizzer riders,
As some of you may be aware from my previous posts the forks on my fzr400 3en1 are cactus.
So I decided to get some fzr600 forks for the states. With the intention for use the 600 tubes with my 400 fork bottoms. Looking at the USA parts fiche all the 400’s and 600’s from 88-96 have the same forks tube, bar one (1992). Plus the spring on the 600 is rated at around 7KG compared to the 400’s 4kg spring. The 7kg is close to the race-tech recommendation of 8.5kg.
My 400 outers are marked “2T” the 600 are marked “3HE-10”
So I decided to stripe down the 400 and 600 fork and compare the parts. My findings are;

• The upper tubes only differ in that the 600 tube is 15mm longer at the top that the 400.
• The rebound tubes are the same except the 400 has 4 x 5mm oil return holes and the 600 has 2 x 3.5mm holes.
• The outer tubes (bottom) are the same except the 600 is 10mm longer below the axle and 5mm taller above the top oil seal. All the mounting tab matchup.
• The spring on the 400 is 473mm with a 90mm spacer totaling 563mm the 600 spring is 415mm with a 160mm spacer totaling 575mm, seeing that the 600 upper tube is 13mm longer the springs are about the same. Also both springs have a 4.3mm diameter thickness.
Me thinks the 600 forks I got maybe actually be 400 forks.
