AraiPnai's Bike Update - FINALLY! - AUG 2009

Post by AraiPnai »

sooooooooooo! after over a year of sleeping... it is the fuel pump.. who referred that other one to me? cuz it was bunk.. or something.. but it wasn't working... all good tho, cuz it wasn't hella expensive anyway to me..

:udaman (i found a very mechanically / automotively / motorcycle'ly inclined friend of mine.. )

so we changed out the battery... brand new, fully charged - power to bike = yes (yay)

fire it up - still just cranking... :ermm:

check fuel pumps, both the original and the semi-new one i was instructed to purchase.. neither are good.. :yuck:

after taking apart the tank and stuff off the bike sorta, we poured some fuel directly into the.. uhh.. carbs? (took the airbox off the engine part, so that thing w/ the 4 holes w/ the door thingies opening and closing - god i'm being such a girl here - sorry!) tried to start it , and *shivers in ecstatic joy* i heard my bike grumble for the first time in over a year... OMG IT LIVES!!!!
:ihi:

result = yes it is fuel starved, and it is definitely the fuel pump b/c there is power in the plug the pump gets power from, and there is fuel coming through the intake tube, but nothing comes through the outlet tube..

so.... here i go again fuel pump hunting.. after all this time, i think imma just suck it up and buy a dam new many hundred dollah pump.. bah hamboogars! >.<
banghead :swear banghead :swear banghead

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
in other news, i have my first track day in a month.. if the fzr is not up by then, i get to track an r6.. excited? yes.. scared? yes.. anxious? yes.. nervous? yes.. @.@ *sigh* private track day w/ friends at least..

Woooo! Yay for running ......or grumbling bikes!

Don't go buying new. I have a pump I'll sell you for 40 shipped. I'll put the tent in with it!

Nice work. We need video of the track day by the way. And Nate has like 12 FZRs so he can for sure find you a pump that works. But there are better alternatives to the stock pump if you decide to go a different route. I say try the one he has just offered you first.

those are the intakes of your carbs. the "door thingies" are butterflys.

did you check the petcock and the fuel filter to see if they were clogged?

your fuel pump relay might be bad as well. i had an extra one but i shipped that to Match417.

Congrats on tracking down the problem. We definitely need some video of the track day. I'm very jealous as I've wanted to do a track day for soooooo long. Maybe soon.
Yes, that is a Single Sided Swingarm FZR600 that I built.

Y-George: happily follow me around the track at around 30mph... hahahaha YESSS! that's how i roll! ^.^ >>> still nervous.. @.@

Shredex: haha thanks for the correct terms.. wish they had more interesting names like the petcock.. :D - but we're getting a new fuel filter just as well, petcock was fine and turned to on and then attempted at reserve..

Haunter: yeah i think it was you but all good.. YOU weren't the seller.. nonetheless i'm not tripping myself because it was cheap..
