Front Fork Install Question

Post by tkclow »

Ok, I am getting a set of forks from Target30 and had a couple questions:

1: Removal looks pretty straight forward but are there any tricks to installing them to make sure they are straight and lined up correctly so I don't get a pull or weird tire wear? The manual just says basically reverse order of removal. I have never had them out so I didn't know if there were any type of alignment marks or anything.

2: Down the road when I decide on different springs can I just replace the springs and oil without completely pulling everything apart if the seals are not leaking?

Thanks again for all the help.

It should not make a lot of difference. The axle will only go in one way which will align the bottom of the forks (for the most part) and you should set the height of the forks in the triple to be the same using the clip-on. Just install one side at a time, get them level, then install the axle.

But don't be surprised if the triple is a little tweaked and you need a rubber mallet to get the fork in and out.
