If you are thinking about building a carb sync tool, then I would recommend using the 2-bottle method.
I just used it and it works wonders! SUPER fine tuning...
My bike revs so smooth now. it sounds so beautiful.
Iv tried the stick and tubing method, all I can say is, it sucks and you can risk sucking liquid into your motor.
Things you will need:
2 GLASS bottles (I used two 9.5oz Starbucks Frappuccino bottles)
12' of 3/8"-1/4" clear pvc tubing (the outside is 3/8", and the inside is 1/4")
1 3/8" drill bit
2 rubber stoppers OR rubber chair leg plugs/bumpers (I used 1.5" chair leg plugs)
4 6mm mig welder tips (there is ten in a pack)
optional
2 "Y" connectors that fit the 1/4" tubing.
2 1/4" rubber caps
# Zip-ties
Ill have lots of pics in a few days of the whole setup and everything you need to do.
There is a write-up for this on the kawa 250 forum, but I would like to make one for a 4-cylinder bike (FZR).
Ill be working on one to add to the wiki here.
It was Megaloxana that has shown me this method. THanks man

Re: Home made carb sync tool
I've used this method. The precision of setting between cylinders is incredible, if you stop and think about it. Using a vacuum gauge, you're comparing readings in inches of mercury; using a dP comparator, you're measuring (eyeballing) mm of water (1" Hg = 345 mm w.c). The FZR400 manual says the allowable vacuum difference between cyls (using mercury sticks) is 0.4 in Hg = 138mm w.c; the two-jar comparator allows you to get within 1 or 2mm w.c very quickly.
It's quick, it's easy, it's cheap - hey, sounds like me!

Re: Home made carb sync tool
That is pretty cool. I need to make an auxiliary fuel tank for when working on bikes.
