Re: power commander...real world gains or what?
From what I understand they're like the flash tuners for fuel injected cars, and you can add as little or as much fuel/ignition advance as you'd like. I'd say go for it, as it'll add a little tuneablility to your new fuel injected ride, and give you something to tinker with on the weekends you have free.

Re: power commander...real world gains or what?
Is it an actual Dynojet Power Commander? If so, which one is it? Power Commander? Power Commander II? Power Commander III? Power Commander USB? Or is another company's controller like a Cobra or a V&H? Either way it's something you can install yourself. No need for dealer.

If you aren't going to tune your bike, then you might not really need it unless you're going to do some more serious mods to your bike.abs600fzrr wrote:its this..

My fuel injection experience is limited to my F150 and the 89-93 Mustang GT forum information, and I know that a stock computer in a 93 Mustang GT (definitely less advanced) can compensate for headers, cold air intake, and mild cam work without any adjustment. So if your bike runs fine how it sits and you don't plan on installing a full system or race cams/headwork, the only reason I see to get it is to advance your timing a little to run premium and make more power. Unless you're getting it for $5.00 or something.

So if tuning is not what you wanna do then why look into buying a tuner? Half price or not you'd just be wasting your money.

Re: power commander...real world gains or what?
I've surfed the CBR forums enough to know that you don't want to bother with it UNLESS you're actually going to pay a company to DYNO and TUNE with a CUSTOM MAP. The gains are minimal (nothing actually) with our bolt-on pipes. Only worthwhile gains come by using FULL Akrapovic or Arata systems. This applies to 929's thru modern 1000RR's. Not sure about the 600's though, imagine same thing.
On top of that, if it's NON-USB you really don't want it.
Save your money and get a decent helmet or boots.
That thing is faster than anyone ever needs for the street anyway. Mine constantly amazes me.

You won't recoup the part when you sell it... I'm with Yam, get a new helmet or gloves.

Re: power commander...real world gains or what?
I got a PC3 for my SV. I downloaded a map of their website for my setup and have felt some gains. I really want to get it dyno'd too. Its only worth it if you want to spend that money on it, otherwise save it for something else.
