Just brought my 88 fzr 1000 home. Its in greatcondition runs like stink until >4000rpm. Assuming carbs are out of synch. It also runs hot while at idle. Previous owner put V & H pipe on it.
It has just over 12k miles and has been sitting in a garage since 2012. Im not a mechanic so i will be taking it somewhere and curious what i should have done.
Suggestions welcome[emoji3]

Save yourself $$$, strip and clean the carbs first. There are any number of how-tos here and on the net, it really isn't hard. Leave one carb fully assembled until the others are back together, so you can play "Now where does THAT go?!" with a working sample. Don't bother taking the carb bodies off the rack.
Once everything is clean and back together, do a bench sync, then see how it goes.
