Not that I intend to drop the bike but it's something that happens to the best of us.
Can anyone recommend some crash protection options for an FZR1000 ('95)? I've found some nice R&G crash bungs for $75 and some off brand ones on eBay for $20. I'm hoping to find some that fit on the frame as well as the swing arm. What do you guys recommend?

Re: Crash Protection Options for the Bike
The cheaper ones use the fairing mounts and bolts so are only good for stationary roll offs. The rg items use more substantial mounting points but from memory you have to cut panels to allow installation

Thanks Stig. Looks like I'm going to be purchasing some well used plastics for when I feel it necessary to use crash bungs.Stig wrote:The cheaper ones use the fairing mounts and bolts so are only good for stationary roll offs. Re: Crash Protection Options for the Bike
These bikes actually hold up well in a sliding crash. About two months ago at the track I lost the rear exiting a fast corner on back straight (about 100mph) and slid down middle of track for about 120meters. Didn't do any mechanical damage except wore about 1/4 inch of aluminium of three places and gear change lever. (main engine mount, swingarm (just below axle) and bar end.
I may have troubles if I ever need to remove engine again as I cant even see engine mount cap screw anymore.
Only cosmetic damage was left lower fairing. Still useable though.
LUCKY. But I did burn my ass and elbow
Wont bother fixing fairing, but now in process of installing race slicks. Was on Dunlop street tyres. Getting faster, I think im ready for slicks!
