87/88 valve shims

Post by spencer_41188 »

is there a shim kit for the 87/88 fzr1000s what diameter do i need

im starting to think its time for some valve shims seeing my bike is hard to start but when it is running theres a back fire threw the carbs every now and again. the previous owner put pod filters and slip on exhaust on it. the speedo cable was broke and 2nd gear dogs where out one would think it was beat on. i went threw the carbs and fixed the porly installed jet kit and now it runs like a champ with an anoying backfire every now and again. i put a new speedo cable in and now i know how fast im going but the miles are past the service intravel.

im wondering if there is a kit i can get befor i tear it down to reduce the downtime of ordering parts and reduce the cost of oem parts but if not it is what it is.

thank you

You have to get the yamaha shims. The aftermarket shims do not work.
Its best to measure first. write everything down then pull the cams to see what is in now.
Then do the math and reuse what you can as they are not cheap.
