Hi All,
I own a 1994 FZR-1000 with a problem. The starter clutch went out and while searching for parts I came across a 2000 R1 motor for sale. I'm curious if it will mount into my 94 frame? and any opinions on the whole starter clutch issue. A shop quoted me $500 to change out the starter clucth provided I supply the part and remove the motor for them...Any thoughts?
Thanks...
Clint

Re: Curious? Engine Swap?
If your pulling out the engine for them how bout buying yourself a haynes manual and seeing about doing the repair yourself. It may not be as hard as you think cause once the engine is out it's just about doing the repair.
As for the R1 engine its not the same frame so I can't say it would be an easy or straight forward swap, maybe nothing would line up and the fabricating would be a nightmare.
Your decision as always is in this situation.

Re: Curious? Engine Swap?
It's not a bolt in swap. The r1 engine is physically smaller than the FZR motor if my memory serves. Will need frame work with new brackets and whatnot.
