Freeze, what did you do aboutthe radiator cap? the tank mount seems to be hitting it. I was going to do a a r6 radiator, but I would have to fabercate a fzr to r6 adapter bracket.

I unbolted mine and tucked underneath the bracket.Genesis wrote:Freeze, what did you do aboutthe radiator cap? the tank mount seems to be hitting it. I was going to do a a r6 radiator, but I would have to fabercate a fzr to r6 adapter bracket.

Re: HOW-TO: YZF600R Tank Conversion Write-Up
I never had any issues with my coolant cap. It clears fine. But I think the mounting tab might be bent down a little. but it did have the FZR1K tank on it too, which is similar to the YZF but bigger. Im honestly having a hard time picturing why it would be hitting on yours.
here is a pic of it, sorry i dont have a more direct shot right now.

Re: HOW-TO: YZF600R Tank Conversion Write-Up
from what model? i have an 400 airbox which has the same measurements as the 600 airbox except the intake part and the holes for the carbs?Genesis wrote:Freeze on the airbox, the fzr400 Airbox fits, I will try to snap some pics while I am fitting the tank with the fzr400 airbox.
Re: HOW-TO: YZF600R Tank Conversion Write-Up
I first tried removing one of the spacers on the yzf tank, and that worked, but it was pretty much a hard mount, and i did not like that. funny thing I had not seen this post yet and I tried bending down the rad filler neck bracket, to get it to fit better and it snapped off, not sure if it had been stressed before or not. O well I have the r6 rad, so I am going to proceed with that. BTW the fzr1k neck bracket is the only way, imho, , I got it bolted up today and it worked great. I am also using the yzf600 rear tank mount, I cut off the little tabs, and it looks like with a little more bending it will work good.mrfreeze5 wrote:I never had any issues with my coolant cap. Yeah, I posted that in my mod thread, the holes for the carb sit just a bit closer to the edge, moving the box forward just a bit, I messed around with it a little today but did not get a chance to finish it up. I hoping it will fit, it is a alternative to the pods and rejetting.Flo wrote:from what model? i have an 400 airbox which has the same measurements as the 600 airbox except the intake part and the holes for the carbs?Genesis wrote:Freeze on the airbox, the fzr400 Airbox fits, I will try to snap some pics while I am fitting the tank with the fzr400 airbox.

Re: HOW-TO: YZF600R Tank Conversion Write-Up
The lines on the R6 don't line up as well as the YZF600, The YZF600 tank looks almost OEM. But more updated.yamaha_george wrote:I do not remember any one using an R6 tank for a mod 'cept may be Shredex who loved the R6 look,.drop him a PM and ask.CiViC07AtX wrote:hey guys im noobie so bare with me and im lookin to do this swap on my FZR600 as well...so a R6 tank wouldnt work compared to a YZF600 tank?

Re: HOW-TO: YZF600R Tank Conversion Write-Up
hi mate im new to this website ..
but i was looing through your page about your bike conversion to an R1 lookalike.
and i was woundering if you could give me some advise because i also have a FZR 600 geneisis which is in perfect conditon which i would like to also convert into a R1 lookalike.
however my brother has a FZR 600 R 1998 model and he wants to swap me for my 1990 G reg bike.
but i wanted to know which one would be best to convert into a R1 lookalike in your opinion.?
thanks for your time
mick

Mick, if they are both FZR 600 Genesis, ether one would work great. drop me a line in my thread or pm me or email me for more infro since this thread is on the tank swap. and we should keep on topic to the tank swap.wacko2008 wrote:hi mate im new to this website ..

Re: HOW-TO: YZF600R Tank Conversion Write-Up
im set on my tank swap all but the airbox.did someone say a fzr 400 box will work with the yzf tank?i really dont wanna go the route of pod filters, cause i hate jetting quads and dirt bikes,so i dont see any reason to beleive that three more carbs would be a pleasent experience.an i also dont feel good about just hacking up a pefectly good fizzer 600 airbox.
Re: Re: HOW-TO: YZF600R Tank Conversion Write-Up
No on the fzr400, hack it or do a Yzf half and Fzr half or podsNAKED&LOUD518 wrote:im set on my tank swap all but the airbox.did someone say a fzr 400 box will work with the yzf tank?i really dont wanna go the route of pod filters, cause i hate jetting quads and dirt bikes,so i dont see any reason to beleive that three more carbs would be a pleasent experience.an i also dont feel good about just hacking up a pefectly good fizzer 600 airbox.
