i guess there is such a thing as "too many mods" unless you're racing and have an expert mechanic you can consult to re-tune your bike every month.

If you really feel your bike is too slow it's time to get a new (or newer) bike. At some point you have to be a realistic motorcyclist and remember what riding is all about, enjoyment. Not how fast Johnny Squidnutts goes from point A to point B.

I know this website seems to be dedicated (or has people who are dedicated) to a lot of modifications on our bikes, but you have to be careful because i'm convinced you can go too far. Sure, all of us would love to have a superbike like Xian_13, but do we really have the expertise, resources, or need ? Much less the ability to be as fast as him or shift on a racetrack. Sure, we all have potential, but even so, do most of us have the time to dedicate hours and weeks and months and years getting that good ? (assuming most of us possess that level of ability, my money is on that probaby most of us don't) (not trying to be negative, just realistic, to save as many of us from disappointment and heartbreak as possible)

I always joke to the owner of our local motocross track that i feel like i'm going backwards in time i'm so slow (by comparsion with most of the other guys), but the key is i don't mind laughing at myself, because i'm just out there to have fun, not be the fastest racer or even a good racer. The competition is very talented out there, even if I trained every day and never worked i doubt i'd even be able to get to the top of the C-class. Plus, a lot of guys have been doing it all their lives. I had about a 20 year hiatus and there's just no way (even if i was retarded enough to take steroids) i could take my body to the level of strength and endurance that a lot of these guys have.

<end rant>
