The offset from the engine IS 8mm..
I used an 05 Kawi 636 front sprocket (that I machined down to 8mm) with my FZR engine when I did my 04 R6 rear end swap, yes the nut was flipped, 4,000 miles later it never came off.. And I ride it hard. Use red locktite and an impact gun.
When I did my YZF engine swap into the bike I had to FLIP the 636 sprocket over so the offsets was back to stock. So if you do a rear end swap and you are installing a YZF600 engine.. you can use the stock sprocket (530 OR 520 pinch)

Re: yzf sprocket offset
I don't think the sprockets hub on yzf600 is the same as R6 wheel . Make sure measur that sht good before you start machining it down

Re: yzf sprocket offset
i got the jt front sprocket i was gonna machine the hub but when a actually saw the pic of the nut i could see that all the threads are engaged on the output shaft i though that it was gonna be barely on, but if all the threads are on i guess it doesent matter where on the shaft they are. plus the spline takes the pressure not the nut that just keeps it from sliding off. thanks everyone who responded cant wait to get it rolling.

Re: yzf sprocket offset
did you just hand tighten the nut till it didnt go anymore or you actually torqued it ??

Re: yzf sprocket offset
i havent done it yet but when i did it the first time i just got it as tight as i could by hand. i dont know how everyone else does it but i keep the chain on and tight so you can hold the wheel or brake to keep the sprocket from moving. i had a gokart and the axel nut kept losening so i drilled a hole between the threads on the axel and the nutand taped in a pin its like a lock washer but a pin it has a slit down the side and is hollow so it squezes into the hole and wont slip out but just leave enough to pull it out with pliers if need to. or the jt sprocket has threaded holes in it so you can put the nut on then put a small probally alen bolt or something in it and the nut will hit it and nut spin off. man that was a really long answer to a short question. just venting with my coors light loud mouth can.
