That exhaust header you have is not the original one. It looks very much like the 'Ontario' headers I bought a set from this ebay seller http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/370649187161
I would say give them a wire brush and a lick of exhaust paint!
Good luck with the build
Chris

'96 FZR 600 - work in progress
Re: 89 fzr600 project!!!!!!!
So im am buying some parts for the bike finally!
This oil filter.. I have a spin off style one, but I read that those only come on 91+
so does that mean I have a 91 now?! first I was told this was a 89, i found out it was a later model. I just dont know the year yet.
I guess the paperwork says 89... but that cant be right...
also with the spark plugs, what is the difference between the NGK CR9A and the CR8A spark plugs?
any one use a VOLAR heavy duty chain? this one is for our model. 530 and 106 links.
and must I use yamalube?
if so, is this adequate..?
It just dosnt give much a description..
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008N3 ... EDMSC121TN
As soon as I get all this, Get my voltage regulator and repair those wires I should start re assembly soon.
my plastifix is coming today so that mean get to put in some plastic work!!!

Re: 89 fzr600 project!!!!!!!
Buy a quality chain. I have some 520 kits or can get you them. Autolite 4808 for the plugs...might be 4803. Someone else will hopefully chime in, but I'm thinking it's 4803 now. MUCH cheaper than NGK and work better personally. As for yamalube, you don't have to use it. Most people I know run shell rotella for oil. Also, the oil filter for a 2004 subaru imprezza will work for your spin on.

Re: 89 fzr600 project!!!!!!!
thanks for the input.
So the 520 conversion is a slightly smaller chain?
what would I need for the conversion, A new rear/ front sprocket?
how much do you sell the kit for?
not something I am majorly interested in right now, but something I'd like to do one day.
Also, Started some plastic repair! its kinda fun! hahah I will have some photos upsoon, before and after when I am done!
