'91 600 Won't Turn Over

Post by pearsonbe »

The battery is fully charged, all lights, switches work, etc. When I hit the start button, I just hear a click and the lights dim a little. Does this sound like a bad starter? I'm checking the manual troubleshooting section.

Try juming across the solenoid to the starter to see if it will spin. But it sounds like you are on the right track.

I would start with the basics...remove/unhook each connection involved and clean them. Apply dielectric grease at each point.

It sounds to me like you have a problem carrying current-which is quite often(usually) a resistance issue(corrosion). The handle bar switch assembly is a common site of this kind of problem..so are the heavy gauge wires/connections in the system (battery+, Battery-, and solenoid connections)
