enginge replacement problem

Hey, I have a yamaha fzr600 92, engine was gone so bought another engine to replace, unfortunatly the engine I bought was 91 model which has an external oil coolent pipe that connects to the radiator. My radiator doesn't have anywhere for this pipe to connect too, is there any quick way around this problem? Thanks.

Which model FZR600 do you have? Does the frame number start with 3HE or 4JH??

You do not have to connect any pipes to the oil cooler, you wont be getting any benefit from the oil cooler being there - but you can wait to plumb it in as you will need new hoses to do so.

You should be able to use all your existing coolant hoses to connect the engine and radiator as before. It would be prudent to get a piece of hose and loop connect the oil coolers inlet and outlet to stop muck getting in there though. You don't have to use the oil cooler just because it's there - not straight away anyway :thumbsup:

This was the oil cooler on my 3HE.

hey chris thanks for the reply, the model I have is 3HE, the engine I am putting in is exactly like yours on that picture, but my old engine didn't have the oil cooler hose in the filter like it is on the new engine, I thought the hose connected to the radiator but after looking further into it there is actually an external oil cooler, is that what the hose on the left side of your filter plugged into? Thanks

From this picture below you can see that this pipe from the oil cooler goes to the bottom left of the radiator (as you look at it from the front of the bike).

I don't have any other pics of the hose arrangements :-?

Thanks, so as my bike is a different year which didn't come with an external oil cooler, my radiator does not have anywhere for that hose to fit to, do you think it would be fine if I just blocked that tube up and cable tied it out the way?

You should refit all of your hoses exactly how they were on your original engine.

Your original hoses would not have had a feed that goes to 'an' oil cooler in the first place.

There *might* be slight differences in how the thermostat is plumbed in - but use all the hoses and thermo housings from your original engine as that's what your rad is set up to connect to.
