well it takes a couple tries to start it ... and then when it does ya gotta wrench on the throttle... but if I pull one set of the pods off and completely cover on of the carbs it will almost always fire right up..... so what does it sound like to you..... and to answer your question about the pods... they are what I would call a dual pod... one filter covers two carbs

Sounds seriously lean, whether underjetted or a massive air leak. Put the filter back on, slip a plastic bag partly over the filter, try to start it.

If you add an aftermarket full exhaust (headers and pipe) go up two steps from stock to 112.5's. It will eliminate the dead spot on acceleration and keep you from running too lean and burning valves. Just my two cents.

I have a question about jet kits and exhausts and if this is the wrong place to post it please excuse my ignorance, I did a search and this came up. I have a 94 FZR 600 and the previous owner (2nd owner) really had no idea what was done to it. It has an F1r Slip on and K&N pod filters, and it has K&N Stickers and Factory Pro stickers on the side. Now just based on my basic knowledge of the bike, putting pod filters on requires a jet kit to be installed for proper performance? I assume that there is a Factory Pro jet kit in it based on the sticker and the fact that the bike has pods on it but I was wondering how I can truly tell, I need to pull the carbs to do so, correct?

(and just for the record, I know that stickers mean nothing lol I just assume it has one based on the other modifications and the fact it came with a Factory Pro Jet kit Box)

What Don said-right there at the end...

Are you running pods? as in individual K&N filters?

Whole different story and they are completely un-needed for a stocck engine with a slip-on.
