1997 fzr 600 casing help?!

So this is my first time having a bike so I'm a very big noob, and that said my friend was riding my 97 Fzr 600 and laid it down on the right side, he broke the casing right next to where you put the oil, I'm sorry for not knowing what it is. But he said he found one that's for a 92 Fzr 600 and wanted to know if any one knew that it would be ok for it to go on my 97. If any one knows i would really appreciate it!!
