Re: headlight questions
another thing to consider is the wattage of the bulbs, im not positive about how much the fzr can handle , but those light come with 55w bulbs per light .... like i said im not sure how much wattage you can put on the fzr .. some relays and a good VR would take care of it i guess.. or it maY be just fine as is ........i only mention this because of a bad experience i had with a bike in the past

Re: headlight questions
found this /// so yea 55watters are higher than the oem 35w ....so something will have to be done to support that extra voltage i would think

Re: headlight questions
The charging system can handle it - it actually takes load OFF the VRR. What you may wish to consider is running the headlights via relays; the existing switches drive the relay coils, while the bulbs themselves are connected directly to the battery through the relay contacts (and a fuse, of course).

Re: headlight questions
My 93 single headlamp with dual bulbs takes, Lo beam 50w and Hi beam 55w as stock, when I switch Hi beam on Lo beam stays illuminated, with no problem. Or it did. So Mr Yamaha knows his stuff
I now have two 35w HID's wired to the stock harness, no relays and no issues @ all.
The only problems I've read about is when people throw 100W bulbs in, That will and does burn/melt the wiring. If you opt for the 55w bulbs check the wiring @ the lamps, if they are melting well..

Re: headlight questions
I put a volts/ohms meter on the battery with both lights on at 4 grand it was making less than 13 volts, had to disconnect one of the lights to save my battery. 144 watts total is what stock lights draw on high beams, which works out to 12 amps, which the circuit is more than capable of handling. Idk Wtf the lights in mine are or what wattage they draw, just that they're car fog lights and they suck. Can't wait to get something useful in there so I can see more than 15 ft in front of me at night.

Re: headlight questions
Fog lights relate to the lens, and how the beam shines. Not the bulbCrazySkullCrusher wrote:I put a volts/ohms meter on the battery with both lights on at 4 grand it was making less than 13 volts, had to disconnect one of the lights to save my battery. 144 watts total is what stock lights draw on high beams, which works out to 12 amps, which the circuit is more than capable of handling. Re: headlight questions
Hid is the way to go. I got my kit with lifetime warranty for less then $75.00. Less draw on battery and stater and way better viewing at night.

Re: headlight questions
Well I really like the dominator lights that are on Ebay, just have to get over the price...around $150 shipped! that's kind of a lot for fake carbon fiber.

Re: headlight questions
CSC, I got mine from ddmtunning.com I got the H4 hi/lo. The bulbs and ballast have a life time warranty. I've bought 9 sets of hids from them for various things I own and never had a problem. And it is night and day difference whit hids. I ride with a smoked lens day or night and even with the added darkness the low is very bright. Oh and I like the 6000k bulbs better. They seem to be a more true whit light then the 5000k bulbs. Hope this helps.
