97 YZF600 Output shaft collar

In the states, this was the upgrade to the FZR600. In other places, this is called an FZR. Either way, many of the components of the US YZF600r fit onto the US FZR600.

97 YZF600 Output shaft collar

Post by shift96 »

Does anyone know if the Output shaft collar (behind the countershaft sprocket) is a press fit on the mainshaft? I want to get it off to machine it down a little to bring the sprocket alignment ina little on my FZR400

Looking at the parts fiche, I would say it's PROBABLY a slip fit, but it also seems to have a lip on which the seal runs - you'll need a fair bit of persuasion to get the seal over that step. It may be easier to remove the bearing cover plate (it helps keep the oil seal in place, too), pop out the seal, remove the collar, and carry on from there.

I'm looking for someone who actually did it. I know all that already. On my bike at least, it's not a slip fit. I'm suspecting it's a press fit. Thanks for looking it up though
