What do you mean "normal"? If it's stamped into the frame, I'd say it's normal. Is your bike an "import" FZR600 by chance? Meaning, you bought it in the UK and shipped it here. If that's the case your bike is probably a YZF600 Thundercat (US terminology for the UK 95-96 FZR600)

That's what I'm trying to find out! I bought it in track bike form......all I know is it's supposed to be a 90 mod. What I meant by "Normal" is....I've got an 81 Yamaha xs 1100 that has a frame number that know one knows what it is. Just want to see if my 600 is a rare bike or not. Probably isn't.

If I may interject - The UK '95-96 FZR600 was the US 4JH YZF600 Foxeye (informal name, not Yamaha); the 97+ was the 4TV YZF600 Thundercat.

The 3HH was IIRC the UK version of the 3HE FZR600 that was imported tot he US from '89 to '99.

I believe the U.K. got that bike starting in '94 (so a year before the U.S.).

*Beer edit* "3HH" is the prefix that is stamped in the motors of all 48-state U.S FZR600s (i.e. non-EXUP).

Let the confusion begin... :drink:

As for the frame number, if I'm not mistaken, the "J" (in JYA) refers to the country of origin - Japan. I don't recall offhand what the "YA" is for. From there though, you see "3HH" which is tied to the motor prefix. Finally, the last five digits of the frame number are supposed to match up with the motor number itself (they match up on my 600). There's a post on the other site regarding this stuff. I'll try to dig it up if I get a minute.
