wiring fail, please help!

Post by CrazySkullCrusher »

replaced the battery in my fzr, started it up to go around the block and heard something arcing out down by the handlebars, happened a few times and now nothing...blotto. one of the previous idiots has bodged up the wiring beyond recognition and i really don't know where to start. I have the wiring diagram in my haynes book but it's really like trying to read chinese to me. i dont have any power going thru the ignition switch i think, how do i go about diagnosing it or taking it out of the equation?

If it truly is beyond repair, is it out of the question to get a new harness off of ebay?

I'll do that if I can't Chase down the problem. Used harnesses range from $20 to $120 on eBay.

I have one for sale that is only 400 miles on it. I bought it new from Yamaha a few years back and didn't use it very much. It was made for a '89 which has a few little differences, but the harness comes with everything needed to operate and the only modification is to the VR plug which now uses the '95+ VR style. Check my for sale thread for more on it.
Yes, that is a Single Sided Swingarm FZR600 that I built.
