I have been reading a bit through the search results, and looked on the wiki to no avail,
There seem to be a lot of ways to get a 17" wheel on the back of a fizzer, but a lot of them look complicated and expensive, I would like to keep the nimble-ness of the bike, and I understand that comes from the narrower wheel, but I would like a tire with predictable slippage in moderate to warm-hot temperatures, (road temps of 50-80F, Guessing?) In NW Oregon mostly spring and summer riding. I don't want a tire that holds until you get it to far and just lets go, I have been on those on other bikes, scary to say the least.

So my question is this to you wise folks,
I have a new Bridgestone Battleaxe that is stock size is this tire going to remain predictable and manageable or can it become unpredictable at a certain temperature? (some of you seem to know a lot about tire compounds)
If not, What is the easiest swap, (I am assuming only the wheel) on a stock FZR600 swingarm to get a 17" tire and then what tires should I be looking at?

Also what are some of the better front tires? Bridgestone again?

The Bridgestones are awesome tires, I actually just got a set of Shinko 006 Podium's that I haven't installed yet but the reviews say they are very predictable and they were only 167.00 shipped for the pair 110/70/17 front and 150/60/18 rear. They easiest swap to get the 17 inch rear would be to see if TomGun is still selling his rear wheel (Suzuki 17 swap) That bolts right up for a 170/60/17 and even has a new Avon tire.

Cbr wheels go on quite easy to 400 and 600 swingers as do tzr wheels if you dont want big width tyres.Bridgestone 010 etc are good 18inch tyres.Guys race on them here in postclassic series.They work well in all conditions.I think there is a new version of the bridgestone also with newer compound similar grip with longer life.

I liked the Bridgestone BT14's that I had on my bike (110/150 sizes). They warmed up fast and remained steady in the corners. Granted I never really leaned over all the way but still. I could not stand the Dunlop tyres that were on the bike when I got it. But they were bias ply.

As for doing a swap, your best swap is a YZF600 swap. You'll need everything - swingarm, wheel, brakes, rotor, sprocket (520 conversion). But it is something you can by yourself over a weekend with standard sockets, an angle grinder, and a dremel. There are a couple of write ups on this one. But here is one that was finished recently. viewtopic.php?f=30&t=2851

The other swaps people mention are great as well, but most of them require work from a machine shop for sprocket carriers and or wheel axles to complete them.

Nothing really to my understanding, like the 'wise' guys said... either machine a cbr wheel or do a YZF swing'r swap. I'm in the process of the swing'r swap and Its not nearly as hard as it looks on paper, you just cant be a retard about getting excited and cutting to much without doing your measurments...
If you stick with the 18 wheel, just remember that most places dont make a wide selection of tires for those anymore, so you might be limited to just bridgestones and avons if you can still even find those very often... I cant...

Shigs - This is the 3rd thread where you have asked about Direct Bolt-ons or easy swingarm swaps. The answer remains - "none". There is no bolt-on wheel that is wider.

The easiest swingarm upgrade is from the YZF600 and it will require a modified front sprocket or rear wheel sprocket carrier turned down, the front pivot needs to be shaved on both sides. This will net you with a 17" wheel that will accommodate a 160 tire.

All of the other swingarm swaps will take extensive work.

I was asking about different wheels, not wider ones. I can't expect that someone that might have a different answer out of all the members on this site is going to read that one post that I wrote on that one thread. I've seen aftermarket wheels on FZR600's and 1000's with the stock swingarm and wanted some info from someone that might know. You don't have to be a db. Half the reason people drop out of these sites or that other forums spawn off is because of the bad feedback and condescending talk that the members with more knowledge spew out. Way to welcome a fellow FZR lover.

For one thing, I didn't resort to calling you names. In all of my replies to you I simply game you the information. Yes, I did point out that you have asked the similar question several ways and that's the truth.

On other sites, they would have told you to "Use the SEARCH" and left you with nothing... I didn't.

I have been looking for a 600 bandit rim because I read somewhere it was a direct bolt on replacement for the fzr600 for a 17"wheel swap. I was hoping to buy the rim and put on a 17" 150 so I could still fit in the stock swinger. I am not in it for the wider tire, I found my stock 140 to be wide enuf, however I picked up a brand new battle axe for 70 bucks that was 150 wide, love it! But I hate the extra lbs and I can feel the bike accels a tad bit slower. I would love to get the same width (150) in a 17" and then swap the front for a 16" therefore keeping the bike more like bikes engineering with the exception I would likely need to raise my footpegs and be carefull over speed bumps ??? I don't thin a 16" tire exist anyway... but Im glad I read this post becuase like I said, I thought a bandit and a gs 600? was direct 17" bolt on as long as you replaced the bandit stock 160 tire width and replaced it with a 150 or smaller width.

To my knowledge, there is no direct bolt-on rim. BUT, if you have found one, then document it. I have a feeling that either the sprocket or the brake rotor or both won't line up properly.

I had a Suzuki rim that fit on the FZR (viewtopic.php?f=30&t=753), but I don't know exactly what was done to make it fit. I received it that way...
