Question, attempting to start up bike, first time in months
I got this 93 FZR600 from a guy I work with, the carb was leaking so he removed the carbs as well as the gas tank... So when I got it from him that's how i it got with out the carbs or fuel tank connected... Everything is correctly installed and I just changed the oil... So when I attempt to start the bike all I get is the oil light... But i just changed the oil... Any suggestions on why the bike will not start up
Finally got her up and running...
LED turn signals installed under rear fairings...
HID headlights...
Front and Rear flush mount turn signals...
Custom handle grips...
Painted Fairings, frame and rims...
Custom gator seats...
Custom helmet, cost more that what i paid for the bike... funny...

Re: Question, attempting to start up bike, first time in mon
You WANT the oil light to come on when you hit the starter - it's a function check, so you know the bulb works. It has nothing to do with the starting (or not) of the bike.
Do you have spark? Are the plug wires in the correct order? (they're numbered, 1-4, left to right!) Are the plugs fouled? Are the caps firmly screwed to the wires? Are the coils actually plugged into the harness?
Do you have fuel? Is the petcock set to on or reserve, depending on how much fuel is in there? How old is the fuel? (Modern fuel is only good for a month or two, perhaps less) Does the pump chatter when the key & kill switch are turned on, and again after a start attempt? Crack your bowl drains one at a time - does fuel come pouring out?
Do you have air? Are the top and bottom boots firmly attached to the head and airbox? Are all the clamps firmly secured? Is the air filter in good shape? Is the snorkel filled with squirrel nests and dead spiders?
If it was recently running but pulled down due to leaking, I would rather assume you have compression, but it wouldn't hurt to check your valve clearances.

Re: Question, attempting to start up bike, first time in mon
Looks like I got some checking to do tomorrow... Gas is good, just got new plugs... I will install tomorrow... the only noise I hear is a click when the key is turned...
There is no spark at all...
Boots are attached very good to the Monifold and Carb...
All connections seem to be good, but I will double check tomorrow...
Airbox is clean, I did a thorough cleaning yesterday...
Not exactly sure how to crank the bowl drains, please tell me how???
I have no idea where the petcock is, that maybe the problem, where can I find it on the bike???
Also I been trying to find out how to put the bike neutral don't know how, or what I'm doing is not working???

Re: Question, attempting to start up bike, first time in mon
The engine cranking and the 'click' means the main relay, the starter solenoid, and the safety switches all work - good so far. No spark and no pump priming bodes ill for the TCI - is it plugged in?! Is the pump plugged in? Have you checked all the fuses? Check the other spark 'to-do's I mentioned in the previous post.
Try applying 12v across the terminals of the pump - does it chatter?
The bowl drains are on the bottom of the carbs (oddly enough). There's a screw next to a little port, facing sideways - 1 & 2 face to the left, 3 & 4 to the right (IIRC). The screw is the valve to open the drain port.
The petcock is the valve at the base of the tank, leading to the filter, then pump, then carbs.
