R6 Shock Spring rates and lengths

So after mounting my R6 shock and spring I decided it was far too soft of a spring rate for the FZR geometry. There's about a 200lb difference in spring rate between the stock FZR spring and the R6 spring. Below is a picture of 3 springs lined up. Stock FZR (Orange), Stock R6 (Red), and a Hyperco Race Spring (Blue). I know some of you have managed to put the stock FZR spring on the R6 shock body. I have no idea how you can do this, as I practically destroyed a set of spring compressors trying to squish this thing down enough to put on the R6 shock. Plus the spring would have been compressed about 15-20mm in it's static state. I bought a hyperco spring with a 700lb rate, the proper inner diameter, and proper length to mount it on the R6 shock with zero preload when the preload adjuster is in it's highest position. I wish I had done this to begin with instead of messing with the factory spring, and mounting and dismounting the R6 shock assembly. Just wanted to post up my experience for those concerned with the spring rates of the factory R6 shock like I was.

Here is the R6 shock with the FZR spring mounted on it and the R6 spring next to it. Sorry, I didn't take a picture of them side by side in the free state.

I could not compress this spring with an automotive spring compressor. It just didn't fit well enough. Your picture shows an obvious difference between the two spring lengths. I don't believe there was that much difference between my two springs. I am very satisfied with the suspension with the FZR spring on the R6 shock. This was a quick, easy and effective solution for me.

Hi SquadraCorse,
I just came across your post and have been dealing with the same issue.
The red spring in my r6 shock was way to soft, even with the preload adjuster on the highest setting I was getting around 45mm rider sag and bottoming out on on bumps.
I currently have the original fzr400 spring fitted in the r6 shock which is way too hard. So I am trying to figure out the right rate of spring to buy.

Could tell me how you decided on a 700lb rate spring?
What kind of static/rider sag are you getting with what rider weight and preload setting ?
