Stator/Charging issue

Post by RS_Threat »

So I went through the charging test diagram and got all the way to testing the three white wires going to my Regulator (I have the R6 Regulator mod for the record). I marked all the cables to be sure I wasn't double testing and what I am getting is the correct Ohm readings on two of the wires and one with no reading at all with either combination. My thought is maybe one stage of the Stator isn't correctly outputting juice or that that single connection could be bad? Any help would be appreciated.

I'm doing this from memory. But you shouldn't get no reading. Did you have the meter set to the right ohm test not milliohms or anything. It didn't read NL did it?

Chris.

Update on it:

Yes, I did the test on the right setting. Initially I got no reading, I opened the stator to see if anything inside was burnt up and saw nothing. When I put it all back together I got a reading that was correct, and so I was optimistic that one of the connectors was loose and when I put it all back together I had fixed the problem, but after running the bike for a few minutes I would test the battery and it would be slowly losing power. I did another test and the same white wire was once again getting no reading... I tested it at both the connection near the stator and up near the regulator.

Any suggestions would be awesome. Thanks.

Final Update:

I tracked it down to the wires inside the stator cover. One of them had broken in half where it had been sauldered together. Fixed it up and the bike is charging again.
