SELLING YOUR ITEMS :: NEW MEMBER EXAMPLE

Post by Fizzerfun »

I’m selling my 1990 Yamaha FZR400 which is very similar to the FZR600. An FZR 400 in this condition is an extremely rare find. The FZR400 was more rare than the 600 and was only imported to the US for 3 years (1988 - 1990) with the 1990 model being the most sought after because it included an improved aluminum swingarm, Aluminum frame, brakes, etc. The FZR400 has a reputation of being one of the best handling motorcycles ever produced. It's lightweight, and has a rigid frame. It also has a great horsepower to weight ratio. Restored in late 2006 by a Yamaha trained technician. This bike was completely disassembled and all parts were cleaned and reassembled. The motor was serviced to factory specs, a Jet Kit was installed and the factory air filter was used as recommended by factory jet kit. The front suspension was rebuilt, all new body work was installed, new chain and sprockets and new tires installed. Currently I have installed Pirelli Sport Demon tires with around 50% tread left on the tires. It has a full system Kerker Exhaust installed also. The bike has been maintained by a Yamaha Technician and some extra parts and the factory service manual are included. Currently it has 41,978 miles on it. This is not the FZR400RR (Exup) model. Call 704-791-9595 for details.

Location: Concord, North Carolina

Asking Price: 3500 OBO

No pictures? How do people expect to sell things on the internet without pictures?

That's why you call, so he can describe the Fizzer in rich 3D detail...

Photos would certainly help sell your FZR400.

Location, Pictures, and an Asking Price

But remember this isn't e-bay

If you want to provide a deal on an FZR 400 for our members, great. Otherwise an unclear "no pictures we'll discuss price thread" will be closed

Er wait i totally trust his description. I don't need photo's, proof of his claims, nor a price or location.

Who wouldn't trust someone, who joins the same day and his only post is his bike for sale?

Sounds a lot like a stock bike with 42k miles on it. No mention of upgrades other than a Kerker pipe.

Not sure I would give more than $1500 for it unless the plastics are mint, then I would say $1800.

I know this may sound odd... but I have joined other forums just to sell stuff. The problem is they won't let you sell something unless you have so many posts. We don't want to do that. As a matter of fact, we do encourage people to join just to sell their stuff. If anything, we get first crack at it. If someone is selling all of their stuff, why would they post 25 or more times asking about the bike when all they want to do it sell it.

I tried to sell some GSXR rearsets on a GSXR site... wouldn't let me do it. Instead I had to go through eBay and sell them for a higher price. Their loss!

Too bad it's not the FZR400RR model. That might be worth the asking price.
FZR400 (1WG): Purchased a perfectly good FZR400 with Yoshimura slip-on/EXUP, Yosh jet kit, Factory ignition advance, Racetech springs and emulators. It even had great bodywork. Like some diseased maniac I had to mess with everything good about that bike. Well, at least I have better brakes now.

FZR400RR (3TJ):Yeah, it's pink.

The only thing rare is the fact there is the LOCATION of the seller eg NONE , NO introduction as to who he is and why he is selling it if it is soo so rare , the price without picture a real Joke.

Darrin,
I know you want to encourage sellers but can we at least insure they have some manners and give a location or we are going to be every bike thief's gold mine.

We have been lucky we had one dispute where the buyer did not show diligence, State side the fact that every darn state has different rules on road legality and no central registry of ownership (at least when I was there 30 years ago buy a set of wheels) and I do not think you have a credit check on the ownership of vehicles as we do in the UK is a nightmare.
Scenario :- you live in Georgia you see a bike in Texas so you call the guy you go down to see it Lovely bike. Are you gonna stay in town 2-3 days doing the local checks ? most will not they hand over cash and put it in the pickup & crossing state lines the feds pull you, go back to the sale site no one home ......................so iffy food stripey tan line and a varied sex life for 8-10

I would have to say that a "Hey guys, selling my 400, check out this CL add ******** " would probably have worked better than copying and pasting your add here, also with the obvious cut and paste brochure information in it. like someone here is really gonna read that and think "MY GOD! I never knew that about the FZR400! Wow! thats so informative, maybe i should check out a couple of dedicated FZR websites for more information on this incredibly rare bike......oh wait......"
I did that.
