Re: MotoGP + Ben Spies
I think that the showman in Jorge is an atemt not to take things to sirius. And I enjoy to se that he is able to enjoy he´s victorys. Let`s hope that more riders will folow his and Rossi's example, that way we`ll avoid that it turns in to something boring like the F1. The riders in bike racing still has a lot to do with why it is so exiting to watsh.

Re: MotoGP + Ben Spies
I'd have to see what you're talking about to really debate the point with you (I've got a boat-load of races on the DVR so I can check it out again). I haven't started racing myself yet so I realize I'm not in any position to really comment on what's dirty and what's not but I think a lot of what we see may not be what it really was. So in that respect I try to not pass judgement unless it's something that I think was pretty blatant. For me, all things on the track being equal, I think it comes down to off-track persona between those two guys. Marco I see as being a funny, unpretentious guy who is really good at what he does and doesn't seem arrogant about it. Jorge strikes me as being the opposite. I know he's a competitor to the bone but he just seems so hell bent on proving that he's better than Rossi that it seems like what he wants is to BE the next Rossi. This will NEVER happen regardless of how many championships he wins. The reason for this is that Rossi is a PERSONALITY - not just a guy who happened to win a boat-load of titles. Yes, I know, it's racing and the whole point is to be better than the next guy. But this feels different and I can't quite put my finger on it. It reminds me of the 2008 AMA season. I actually enjoyed watching the 600 races a lot more than the 1000s because of guys like Ben Bostrum, Josh Hayes, Jake Zemke, and Danny Eslick. These guys always looked like they were having fun with not a hint of pretentiousness about them. What I saw with the 1k guys was the opposite so as a racing fan it was a bit harder to root for them.chefen2006 wrote:So mr Spies came in 7th. Very impressive.
I se that fzrbrandon likes Simoncelli and dislikes Jorge!!!
I agree that Simoncelli is a very talented rider, but he has puled one two many dirty tricks when he is pushed by the competition. Not very nice.I understand that everyone wants to win,and sometimes you have fight a bit dirty to do so,but there is a limit. In my opinion Simoncelli have passed that line a few times this season.
Jorge is pushing the his limits yes,but when he crash he is man enough to admit that is was his fault. Not blaming the bike/suspension/tyres/whatnot like Pedrosa had done so many times. No bulls**t. I think he will be a strong contender for the title next year.
OK you can kill me now Brandon
Anyway, this could be one of those endless debates and I really don't have a whole lot of emotion vested in it so my opinion could probably be swayed regarding either of these two (Marco & Jorge) depending on what happens next season.
I'm rambling as usual so... Enjoy the races today everyone!

so by that rationale, any racer that comes in with a fun personality and freely expresses it is a rossi wannabe....ragedigital wrote:My only problem with Jorge is that he is trying to be a Rossi clone. Rossi is the showman... Jorge isn't. I think Jorge has the ability to win. He has certainly shown that he can keep up with Rossi, so I think he has a chance. He just needs to keep his wits about him and focus on the race.chefen2006 wrote:Jorge is pushing the his limits yes,but when he crash he is man enough to admit that is was his fault. actually, lorenzo has had this attitude/persona/whatever about him before he ever came to gp. what's funny is, rossi didn't like it and said he thinks lorenzo showboats too much. uhhhh, hello pot, meet kettle. ha ha ha
i wish more racers would be like this. riders like stoner (even as talented of a rider as he is) bore me with their lack of personality. on top of that, he seems like a cry baby, especially when the heat gets cranked up and he can't take it. i thought aussies were laid back, fun folks with lots of personality. unfortunately, their top racers -- stoner, bayliss, corser and that other old school fella (i forget his name right now) seem to take it all too serious and never laugh. i dunno.
back to lorenzo -- he's young, obviously talented and still learning what works (but getting a grasp on that rather fast this year) and i think he will be world champ here very soon. even with some dnf's, he still had a chance at the title.
i wish more racers would goof off and have fun. it's great to see these elite athletes acting goofy and enjoying themselves. kick some ass, have some fun and if someone doesn't like it, eff 'em. it's good for the sport.

I must admit that I was never a Spenser fan in GP cause he was boring, King Kenny, Sheene, Dohan were fun guys.chefen2006 wrote:I've coudent have said it better myself. This is what the sport need to make it more interesting.
AS for F1 Schumucker killed it what a dour SOB.
Rossi is a card he is out there obviously enjoying himself so few are like that they are there for the money / glory but they never seem to be riding because they love it as well.
Re: MotoGP + Ben Spies
i dunno about you guys, but i loved the season finisher. not the most exciting, but the whole stoner thing, and pedrosa taking back 3rd just makes me
that allowed my 3 boys that i've been rooting for all year to take up all 3 podium positions.
big ups to edwards! i had a feeling he'd have a strong finish. this was a good year for him too.
as for spies, he has much to learn about the new (to him) gp bike. for his premier gp season, i think he'll be 6th to 9th. don't get me wrong, i'd love to see him schooling the field and edwards doing better, but i just don't think it's in the books -- yet.
now that the racing is over for the season, i'll be working on my disc golf game...
